DREAMING ABOUT CARBON CAPTURE AND REMOVAL

Stacks Image 1302
Carbon dioxide is temperature, a balance for life, a risk of extinction, present and remote times of a planet, it connects past and future, it is an universal resource.

In collaboration with Expedition Air, the brand of products made from carbon dioxide emissions, we formulated the world's first Nano paint made with nanoparticles containing solidified atmospheric carbon dioxide captured from the air.

The collection consists of:

1- CARBON REMOVAL DIGITAL MECHANISMS:

With the world’s first nano-paint that has embedded carbon dioxide emissions captured from the air, Luis Merchan creates physical paintings in negative color, which need to be viewed through a filter to change the image to positive color.

Using the transition of these paintings from negative to positive, he creates these Carbon Removal Digital Mechanisms that turn landscapes of apocalyptic extreme climates with high temperatures and high concentrations of CO2 into worlds of ice with the majestic white glaciers, traveling in time to pre-industrial atmospheres before climate crisis began. They are a reminder of the two sides of carbon dioxide: a positive, sustaining life on Earth, and a negative, exacerbating a risk of extinction.

It is a way of dreaming about carbon capture and removal as a powerful solution to balance atmospheric CO2, and of imagining a low-carbon future supported by emerging technologies.

Properties:

a) SUPERGLACIERS
Maximum amounts of CO2 embedded, maximum size paintings.

b) CO2 ATMOSPHERES
Medium amounts of CO2 embedded, medium size paintings.

c) ICE ON FIRE
Small amounts of CO2 embedded, small size paintings.

2- NFT GENERATIVE ART:

Poetic reflections about the times and temperatures caused by different concentrations of carbon dioxide on a planet. These pieces were created using a GAN AI algorithm trained with all the landscapes globally declared a World Heritage Site (77.000 photographs of more than 250 places).

The algorithm also turns all these places into Earth's glaciers or landscapes of Venus, whose atmosphere is composed of dense clouds of carbon dioxide, thus causing a runaway greenhouse effect that raises the planet's temperatures to almost 500 degrees C.

Balanced CO2 is eternal ice

*This project is included on the CLIMATE CHANGE NFT SERIES by Nori.
50% of the proceeds will go to Nori Carbon removal projects, helping us reverse climate change’s impact.

*Each painting includes a certificate of authenticity for the embedded Carbon dioxide emissions provided by Expedition Air and Carbon Upcycling Technologies.
